well ive had my lil silver for about 3 months now...hes grown a bit and is in wonderful shape...but i cant get this guy to eat anything but crickets!!...he loves em...which is fine by me...but i obviosly dont want this to be his staple...and its fustrating and expensive...hes at about 8-9 inches and he will chomp down 6-8 full size crickets like nothing...and im sure he would keep on going if i let him...i have tried so much stuff...freezedried krill...frozen krill...different pellets...including hikari and nls...he will hit some frozen bloodworms every once in a while...only thing ive seen him take other then the crickets...also hes eaten a feeder or 2..should i just starve him...this lil guy is getting the best of me...also...ive noticed my silver spends alot of time on the bottom of the tank...its a planted tank with some nice driftwood and rocks/caves...and hes always down there swimming around in the plants and even chills in the caves sometime...i had another silver long ago and he never did this...what u guys think???...his only tankmates are about a dozen oto cats...and a fire eel who is in there temp but they get along great...maybe hes imitating me eel??...lol...i dont know

he's quite grown now you can starve him for a week or so*thats just me i really don't like starving my fish *
but what i do is
feed 'em earthworms
put one in and wait for him to finish it
and then put another one and wait
thus he now knows that whatever i throw in is food
then the next day i put one and then i put a dried shrimp
and wait for him to at least try it
and then put another worm
the next day i increase the amount of dried shrimp i put
and slowly i reduce the worms and feed only shrimp
once they get on dried shrimp moving on to pellets isn't tough

Try earthworms , crawfish and market shrimp . Ive noticed that aros are stubborn as hell mine hasnt eaten anything but 1 earthworm in 2 weeks so just be dilegent he wont starve himself to death 
looks like im going to have to do it...ill start today..hopefully he breaks down quick...lol...and doesnt break me
I've been contemplating the same thing with my peacock bass. I don't want to but I think I will have to soon.
you probably remember my thread from a few days ago about my silver aro. well, ive been starving him since then, and finally last night i tried to feed him some market shrimp. he was a little hesitant, but he took it. and he also took another one this morning 
cool...so there is some light at then end of the tunnel...lol...im gonna start today...see what happens...only thing that scares me is that hes gone for 4 days without eating and nothing...so i know its gonna be atleast a week before he takes anything...well see what happens
