looks like a carpinte to me, i think its not hybrid, possible but i doubt it, very nice fish, gunna be a tank of a male when older.

here's a pic of albinoredoscar's at 4" but not as big hump as ures
 
Would you guys say it is safe to say, he will have a huge head when older? Or could this be a temporary anomaly?

He's gonna be a monster and his head will probably end up being the size of a ping pong ball...lol
 
i still think its a red tex and the hump is a deformity. ask cross he really knows his stuff about these fish and could tell you for certain. ive never seen red on a pure carpintis.

Nah...I think it is a carpinte....The bump is a deformity? What would that look like when older?

well if the bump is indeed a deformity then i guess it would look like hell when it get older.( lol )ive just never seen a car with red on it. ive got 2 cars and one red tex and the fish you posted looks like my red tex.
 
It is a carpinte, and the nuchal hump is just starting early, he just has that certain dominant trait more than others.

I think he will be fine. Aquamojo says carpinte so I guess we will see....
