toad tadpoles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glad to hear they are doing better. I don't think the toad tadpoles are fatel but they are indeed toxic. Labratory studies have shown that when a largemouth bass eats a toad tadpole it remembers it...and never eats them again, they can actually tell the various tadpoles apart.

i think my Fh started to accosiate me w/ pain instead of food :( . it swims away from me now. it will still eat from my hands though.

99% of the tadpoles you can feed your fish are safe. Cane toads are toxic throughtout all stages of it's life from egg through adult.
Ensure you don't feed tiger frog tadpoles, either. These tadpoles are carnivorous and can scar a prized show fish before they're eaten.

Don't use toad tadpoles...ESPECIALLY cane toads. Tjose things can kill dogs.

As toad tadpoles come closer to morphing, they start to produce their toxin and the taste changes. My fish will spit them out when they start to reach that point. If you raise tadpoles on your own from eggs, just make sure you don't keep them for too long. If they are well fed, they will morph in two to four weeks.
