i see you broke out the PS skills for the fish with the cinder block pics this round.

i'm a lover of as close to natural pics as possible, but you still do a great job with your photography. D300 i presume?

:)

What are you talking about? What cinder block? PS Skills?

cinder block was the wrong term, but it looks exactly like you edited the fish in and out of the light colored stone cave with photoshop.

Nope. The fish was actually in the pot. Because I use a spot focus with the camera I had to burn the pot in a bit. The TTL metering on the camera and flash adjusts for the darker fish. The reflected light off the white container messes with the exposure. I almost pulled the pot to replace with a darker...until I saw the eggs. What you might be seeing is some of the unusual lighting properties brought on by the white interior of the pot. The flash was positioned toward the top and front of the shot. IN these photos the reflected light off the inside bottom of the pot gave the fish a little additional illumination on her belly...and seperation from the background.

wow, had no knowledge of this prior to this post, what through me off was the focus between the fish and pot. thanks for the explanation.
