I'm very sorry about your loss. I'm relatively new to this forum but I know how much I like my fish and how much I care about them and I can only try to imagine your sorrow. I hope nobody will throw tomatoes at me ... I cannot say I'm an expert or somethin' ... but morphologically speaking .. I could swear that's a Jack Dempsey. The colour is indeed quite strange ... a morph or somethin' but no Jag shape in my opinion (what about the size ... does it have pseudocanines? ... doesn't resemble a Guapote by no means).
Again ...sorry about your loss... hope u find somethin' else to care about .... somethin' to replace the grief .... Cheers.
It's an old jag . . . 13 years, they get the arch in their back at that age. jumbo was a cross between a regular morph and a gold morph jag. He probably had the best patterns on a jag that I've ever seen. I don't know how you got the jd part . . . probably because you haven't seen his pictures when he was a bit younger. Do a search, Jumbo was 100% jag and, in my book, the best one out of all the ones I've seen.

I didn't weigh him...but he was 15" from tip to tail. Trust me when I say, it was most definitely p. Managuensis. He never really kept his pseudocanines. Really quite simple. You bang your open mouth off the front of a glass tank for thirteen years...somethings gotta give....like his teeth. I can personally attest to him having some sort of teeth. He bit me twice since I had him. Once behind my arm as I reached across his open tank...and the other on the side of my hand while I was arranging something in his tank. From that point forward I would have to have one hand in the tank with a net to distract him while the other did what I had to do.
Thanks. I have plenty of fish and tanks that require care and attention. Jumbo made it memorable.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your sorrow after losing a pet after thirteen years. Jumbo was literally my inspiration for my big tank and THE reason I got into CA/SA's. And I can confidently say that Jumbo was the best looking jaguar I've ever seen. You can take solice in the fact that yourself and Jumbo has inspired so many of us to take it to the next level. Also that you gave him such a long and healthy life. I also want to sincerely thank you for all you've done around here. Your photos and fishes offer endless inspiration for so many of us. We all mourn Jumbo's loss along with you. Thank you for sharing him with us.
