It was in my basement...the Fish Room. We not only had the mold problem, but we had water condensation on the windows upstairs every morning. Since the pond is down...nada. I had it four 14 years. I'm going to replace the space with another large tank.
Thanks for the answers Mojo. I was wondering,since we have the same weather, how you grew SA and Ca cichlids in a pond.Unfortunately I don't have a basement but I plan to build a big garage in the spring to turn my small fish room into a monster fish room.I'm psyched for it to happen! I plan to heat it also so I may build a pond in it as well.

Did you have an dehumidifier? I had condensation last winter and added a dehumidifier this year and it seems to have corrected it. I have around 1,000g total but no open pond. I'm in the process of tightening up all of my tanks.
The highest point the condensation collected was in the upstairs bathroom exhaust fan. Every time I'd sit down to "read" I'd turn on the fan and get rained on.
