Convict is a common name for small cichlid throughout CA, all closely related and can hybridize. There are convict species in just about every creek in CA. I have kept 3 species of convict, Cryptoheros sajica, nanoleutus and paramensis, and a hybrid of the first two. Additionally, and I have kept Austraheros species from Uraquey that are reported to be closely related to CA convict and can hybridize.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have not yet kept any convicts, but I think someday I would like to. Currently I have only kept Oscar, Rivulatus, Cyano Texas, Salvini for a short time. My biggest tank is a 120 and currently housing my O and a cyano, plus a pleco. I love my O, but sometimes wish I could do something different with that big of a tank, but he outgrew the 75 he was in, so I'm stuck for awhile.
