Here in Panama, back in the 60s half dozen Cichla (peacock bass escaped during the rainy season) from someones pond. They have decimated the local cichlid population in parts of Lake Gatun, and are so prevalent, there are yearly fishing jamborees to help reduce numbers.
We sometimes end up with a little of the over catch for lunchfullsizeoutput_1c9.jpeg
And in some lakes the feral Tilapines are all that can be seen.

Tilapia do well here as do bluegill,both are introduced and don't bother much.
For every bad introduction idea there are a dozen success stories,they just don't get much publicity.
As far as controlling plecos ,they taste like lobster when boiled....
