Sorry guys just need to vent a little...

So today while my dad was out his dog chewed on this breathing mask that apparently costed around 500 dollars. This is the third one the dog has chewed up apparently. That's not even the messed up part. My dad completely lost his mind and started beating the dog. He is now sayIng the dog has to go tomorrow morning even if he has to throw the dog out on the street. He said he hopes the dog gets hit by a car. Intact he actually threw the dog outside several times and me and my step Mom had to go out and get the dog. The dogs name is coco and she is a cockatoo who was originally a present for my 9 year old step sister.

My step sister is in tears over the whole thing and I am a bit emotional too. I only go to my fathers house every other weekend so I don't see the dog very often. But I do spend a lot of time with her when I am at my fathers house and I have become very attached to her. My step mom is desperately trying to find someone to take her by tomorrow for fear of my father actually throwing her on the street. There is very litte I can do.

I realize the masks were expensive but this cannot be right. You know I cud never understand how people cud just release animals on the street or in the wild... Until i saw my father tonight. I cannot believe an animal lover like me came from a man like that.

I'm so irritated and sad idk what to do.

Sorry for the spelling errors I was typing from my ipod

Instead of your father being a blatant idiot by leaving a third mask lying around perhaps he should a little of that grey matter he might have and put the mask in a closet or up high before blaming the dog for his mistakes. You would think he might just learn the lesson after the first $500 got chewed up. Three times is nothing but pure stupidity.
It isn't the dogs fault. I would phone the spca on him because at least then he either has to surrender the dog meaning it at least goes somewhere safe or he will be monitored while it remains in his care.
Your dad sounds like a real winner btw, takes a big man to beat a defenceless dog.

You say you only visit your dad, can't you take the dog if the issue is forced??

Well aparebtly this time he put the mask in a bag zipped and in the closet and the dog still got to it. Like mentioned i would have put it up high. Even so it is still overreacting. Taking the dog to my mothers house would not be a good idea. I already have 3 fish tanks running and several reptiles including a 3ft tegu but if it actually comes down to him throwing it on the street I will defiantly tale the dog home with me. I am defiantly not one too say my dad dosent have problems. He tried to throw my ball python into the woods after it escaped its cage. Thank god the local petco actually took the snake off our hands.

Even if you take the dog home on a temporary basis and then go about finding her a good home. That is far more responsible than leaving the dog with him. Someone will take the dog for free off your hands.

Well thank god my step mom seemed to have calmed my father down and they decided to keep the dog. Hopefully things will work out. I am back at my mothers house now. I am really hoping they will be a little more responsible about where they put their things. My step mom is out getting the dog groomed.

Very sad. i feel bad for the dog. sounds like ur dad does nt need ne animals around him whatsoever. hope everything works out and the dog can go to a home where it will be cared for as well as RESPECTED
