Told ya!

I know people use it with desert snakes instead of sand (sometimes different types of sand aren't good, aswell as grain size) and never have a problem with the stuff/love it. I can see maybe if lizards are taking down a mouthful every time they go for a cricket though.

Yeah I believe it would be much more of a problem for lizards than snakes. Feed a snake on that stuff once a week, and a few bits might get ingested and then be dissolved by the snake's extremely powerful digestive juices. Snakes seem to have much thicker skin as well, so they're less likely to get scratched up.

Still don't recommend the stuff. It can't be all bad, but I still don't want to take the chance.

Btw how much did thay guy eat? was he starving or something?

I dont know, it wasnt my dragon. Just a friend on a forum who cut open his friends dead beardie...

But along with the injuries, abrasion, and impaction, some of which people still deny, what do you expect animals to do with it? Animals want to dig! Covering up under 1cm of substrate does not count! If you look at my hognose tank, youll see 8 inches of aspen filled with tunnels left and right, and she uses them daily, even preferring it over the spot under the water bowl (which she used extensively before I switched from shredded to shaved aspen, which holds a better tunnel) and the hidebox. Another bonus is that when she hides, she can hide anywhere. Any temperature, any spot, at any time.

beardies diggin is alot different to eating it..

It's not uncommon to find autopsy of Bearded Dragons and Monitors that resulted from substrate impaction...

depends on what animals you use with it.

could someone explain what it is that was in the bearded dragon's belly?

Both of you , Jessica and Loco, are worthy members here ( Jessica being wiser, more feisty, but less loco )....

But your bickering sometimes borders on the ridiculous, and what could be a good, ibforming thread, turns into a waste...

sad.
