ohio
so i am from NW ohio, but was never really into fish back then, but i will be heading back home next week, and i was just wondering where are the good places to check out?
i saw a post about the toledo zoo aquarium, so i will probably check that out ... and i have heard there are some decent stores there ... what ones do you guys recommend ??

i will be west of toledo, so really anything within an hour or so ...

the trip will be from columbus, up 23N to 75N/W in findlay (i know theres a Jacks there, anything else? lima?) and then taking SR 6 west out of Bowling Green back to my hometown around the Napoleon / Defiance area ... whats on my way?

thanks in advance

If you hit the jacks in findlay they are pretty good. As far as jacks goes.

Lima really doesn't have anything. some chaine stores I think. but I never go there b/c jacks in findlay.

but as far as that goes I know of nothing off the top of my head.

Toledo it's self may have something nice. But you can't get much better then the Aquarium adventure that like 10 min away from you. lol 65%off this weekend.

AA is STILL having that sale ?
lol
they still have that niger ?
you dont know of anywhere that has sturgeon right now do ya ?

I have never seen one for sale local.

And for that sale yeah it's this weekend that you can get the 65% with the fish club. When I was down there last it was 40% off. If you are in Columbus on monday that would be the place to be. they are supposed to get new stock in on monday. So that's when Ill be there. also if you got the fish club they sent out flyers and I also got a cupon for 30% off any one regular priced item. I am thinking a 5 gal bucket of bio balls or a nice piece of drift wood.

gotcha ... GL on that driftwood! (just another instance of them being RIDICULOUS when it comes to prices)
hows the tank coming? when you decide to stock it, let me know, i know a few people down here and maybe i can help you find stuff ... do you know what you want yet?

as for monday, i will be working all day, but if you get there and they still have that niger, gimme a call !!! ;)

i'll look for him and if I don't see him i'll pm you here when I get home.

I know they suck on the driftwood the piece they had the last time that I wanted was $150!!!! bit with 30% off I might be able to take that hit.

On the tank... I am ordering drill bits this week. And when they come in i'm going to drill one of those 55s I got then if they don't break All I have to do is plumb it and make a top. So as long as none of the tanks break i'll be set one the bits come in. If a tank breaks then I have to see what replacment panels will cost and i'll just have them drill them before I pick them up.

idk yet The only thing set in stone is a ray. and i'm not evensure what kind I am leaning twords a motoro. I was also thinking Pbass but idk. It's hard to get a stocklist when idk if I want to do a few monsters or just a monster community.

I'm not sure about stores in Lima, but next summer, they're probably getting a Jack's or so I hear...I go to school near Lima and I'm there quite a bit, but I've never gone looking for fish stores.
I just passed the Findlay Jack's today, but after it was closed.
The Toledo Zoo aquarium is awesome. I haven't been there in two years, but I might be going with my ichthyology class sometime fall quarter. Last time I was there was with another class and we had a behind the scenes tour and saw their collection of rare Victorian species. My favorite fish though was probably the massive Arapaima.

I'm glad to hear their supposed to be getting more fish at AA tomorrow cause I was already planning on being there. Couldn't miss 65% off

I was in lima today and before I left I looked at an old lime phone book I have and The only pet store that would have fish is a pet supply plus. And it's on the other side of lime away from 75. There was however a store called Hawk's Aquatics. Listed in the phone book but I called the number and it was no longer connected. So I called 411 and they gave me the same number and again not connected. So I MAPQUESTED it and drove by where it was supposed to be and NOPE not there. lol So the only place in lima that sells fish is pet supply plus.

On a side note about jacks. I have been in one in columbus one in dayton one in marysville and one in bellfontaine and one in findlay. So that maks about half of there stores if not more. By far IMO findlay has the best store for fish. So If you go to jacks and you can make it to findlay that's the place to be. Also I like to get my water conditioner from them b/c I can get a gal of water conditioner for like $30 and it treats like 9000gal+
