Tony Stewart runs over another drive

I don't blame Stewart at all. Sad for the kid, but anyone who has driven track cars knows you don't walk onto an active track. It's such a primary rule for safety that Ward violated. No way is this anyone's fault buy his.

And as the article states, dirt track isn't like pavement. You steer with your foot and control the angle with your wheels. Any type of quick turning you have to break the back end loose. If they are going to claim he rev'd at the last second, take it as a sign he saw him and was trying to turn out of the way.

Such a sad event in many ways. Likely ruined 2 careers over a hot headed moment. While I cant find a shred of blame for Tony, this will undoubtedly effect his career and life in a horrible way. I couldnt imagine the pain of both families involved.

And anyone who questions his driving maneuver has never driven in slippery conditions. With a dozen years of snow driving experience in rwd cars I can tell you hitting the brakes will cause a straight forward slide, and turning the wheel only will send you spinning in a straight line. A very light left turn and slight throttle is the ONLY chance to steer out of that and even that isnt going to turn on an instant like pavement. Notice the blue car infront of Stewart almost hit him? So that left what maybe .2 sec to make a move? While a guy is moving toward you... just a sad day.

What it looks like to me is Stewart trying to swerve away from him but was just too late.
Granted they aren't high power sprint cars, but what I have experienced with RWD V8's on dirt roads is a little lag between the time you hit the gas and when the car breaks loose depending on how fast you're already going. Driving on dirt is a whole different ballgame from pavement.
Regardless, the kid put his own life at risk with his actions.
