Thank you.. but it really isn't the people getting me upset.. i am upset with my self.. i am really diligent about the care of everything we own..i am also an animal advocate... not the crazy type who shoot their mouth off but the type that actually takes something home and takes care of it... also trying to ban the slaughter of horses for meat.. and i participate and donate time to abused animal rescue..... so when i find myself in this position even though it was a surprise to me.. i feel i let myself down..but at the same time.. i do realize this is my first rescued turtle and i plead ignorance and now just thank ful that i know and can correct the situation...smmfish;583082; said:Red Devil, I wouldn't worry about what anyone else says about your snapper. You are doing the right thing by putting him on a diet. Don't let other people get you upset.

Turtles, normally, do NOT outgrow thier shells. That would indicate too much fat (lipids) and not enough calcium and vitimin C&A,most importantly E. Buy it a multivitamin and crush it in its food or maybe try a cuttlebone...seriously or eat it...turtle soup...yummm LOL Don't get bitten!!
Good luck

With that said dont abuse the little guy, but every 2-3 days feeding will do him just fine. Make sure he has the correct temps too so his metabolism is working on all cylinders
