I have a 210g tank with Central and SA cichlids. I run 3 emporer 400's and it does a good job but would a single fx6 work better? Black Friday at PetSmart has them for $170. I couldn't pass it up

I have never run a canister filter. I was always a fan of HOB incase something went wrong and you weren't home it would drain the tank all over your floor but I think I'm gonna try this

Canisters are sealed unlike sumps and dont flood if the power is out

I love the 400's and not sure if I'll run the fx6 maybe even sell it for a buck or 2. I really like the ease of the 400's. no taking stuff apart in the bathtub ect. I do not like the fact that they stick up so high though and they get the white crust from the water on them but I'm not even sure the fx6 alone would work as well as these 3

It's all depend on your stock and what's work best to you, I don't like much HoB cause they are too loud, same for sump but sump is easy to maintain if not easiest. FX6 Canisters do a good job and keep water clean but will need to maintain every month and some peoples don't like taking thing a part every month too lol. Also, $170 for FX6 is a steal deal not much too lose here. If you need an upgrade then buy it, your wet pets deserve it :) and don't forget some good deals on tank too lol

1x FX6 won't beat those 3 but it's not bad at all, you would need 2x FX6 to get rid of those 3x 400, if you have extra money then I would say get 2x fx6 instead a single one :P

Three fx's would be best... I have two on my tank (210) now and will be adding a third (bought @petsmart for 170.00)

3 fx6? wow those lucky fish and the lucky electric company. I just got word my order was cancelled since it was not in stock. No I would have to go to the city to get one. Question. what does it cost per month to clean them? I guess those ceramic pieces and foam stay but you need to change something every month don't you?
