ya my pike would punk a pair of convicts out and be all like bia gimme dem eggs and go cookie monster on em hah

My pike is insane when it comes to egg stealing. He'll stay his ground gobbling down mouthfulls of eggs while taking the full force attacks of both parents going nuts on him. It's quite a site how evil he looks as he's chomping them down as fast as he can.

A pair of proteus might work in a 30 if you got them already paired. They tend to max at the 6-8 inch range. Once paired, the bond is really strong but pairing in a 30 probably won't happen, even the dwarf species usually need a much larger tank than a 30 to survive the pairing process.

ur only species u could possibly choose if u were to even attempt to pair em off(in a larger tank first) is regani, walla, and notos is ur only possibility from what ive read but u can definatly keep any single one of those in the tank with the breeding pair theyll eat some eggs and if they dont theyll take out all the fry im actually thinkin if imma get a pair of convicts and let them breed like mad cuz i kno any pike cichlid would eat anything that could fit in his mouth and his mouth is huge!! hah but it would work tho my pike cichlid alone will eat 2 dozen guppies in like 3 hours and hes not even 4 inchs yet

Siamese Algae Eaters will do a good job of it when they get reasonably sized, they're incredibly agile and absolutely fly around the tank when they need to. I had 1 single 4" SAE clean up entire batches of numerous Angelfish spawns in my planted community before I broke the pairs up.
