  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It doesn't effect the "beneficial bacteria" and such?
I was told i did to much an d was only doing it once a week.
i also kept having issues with my 90..and them rubbing..but i dont know if it really had anything to do with that.

I do 50% water changes on my 240 every 2 days, my fish love it.

I am sure the DWP loves it too! ;) Sorry just joking, I had to say it. On topic , wc just for kicks may be overkill? I guess as long as the water you put in is good the proper temp ,ph ,ect. it should be fine? Sometimes I noticed fish can get really stressed but if yours seem fine than sounds like everything is working out great! Maybe install a drip system, that would be like 24/7 constant W/C !!

You think you do a lot! I do around 25%-30% WC each day to each of my tank! :D
I personally think it is safe (my method), always crystal clear water now!

now THAT is actually called OCD. Please see a shrink asap

that sounds good man, too many is like 100% per day :D

50% DAILY on my 150-gallon with 1 large JAG, sometimes I skip a day, but that is not often.

that's surely almost completely pointless.

lol I was wondering the same thing today. I enjoy doing the water changes and Im sure the fish appreciate it. Though ive heard on these here forums too many water changes can give you an unreliable Bacteria bed? By not feeding it enough is the only way I can think of.
:screwy:

Bacteria reside in filter, not the water column. Once the fish becomes accustomed to large daily water changes, it isn't really a problem. Heck, I did 80% daily water change on my snail tanks until I was able to get more tanks to spread out the population. I also did the same to my discus a few years back and they had no problem with the way I maintain their tank as they had already been used to the routine. You will find discus breeders do even twice a day water changes by as much as 80%.

Bottom line, it just depends on how the water parameters go as far as the amount of foods given and the number of fish are concerned although if both the owner and fish alike like it, there is no reason to stop them. Fish just loves clean water and a healthy fish in the long-run is rewarding.

so with these daily water changes and not affecting the bb, this is just taking water out and not doing a gravel vac right? so maybe do the vac weekly and waterchanges however many times people like to do them?
