I am making a 40 gallon whitewater tank.

I just finished setting it up a week ago (I cycled with old media) and I am wondering if this is too much current? I have an aquaclear 50 powerhead in the back (making most of the current). It's rated from 20-50 gallons and I have it on the lowest setting with maximum aeration. The powerhead in the front is some no name one. It's supposedly good for up to 75 gallons, and I have it on full. It's creating much less current than the aquaclear though.

Anyways, the current in the tank looks pretty fast. I cannot really tell if the barracuda likes it or not. He seems to hang out behind the filters a lot.

Right now the tank isn't really decorated yet. There is an acestrorhynchus falcirostris (5 1/2"), nandus (3-4") and a small spotted raphael catfish.

Do you think there might be too much current?

I think it's a bit over kill, but you can try to turn the powerhead facing the corner it's set in to cut down on current...........

Can't watch the video cause youtube is blocked at work...

But I had an AC 50 and a 150gph powerhead on my 40. A few plants and lots of tetra's they seemed to like it. Tank had decent flow but not enough to uproot plants or anything crazy. both flowed to the front of the tank and kinda broke things up. don't want to create a wirlpool or anything.

I'd lose the cheapo in the front. Fish seem to like the current if you ask me.

The one in the front will likely be moved into another tank once I get the filter set up the way I want. Right now I have the aquaclear powerhead on a sponge filter and the aquaclear filter attachment on the front powerhead. I have to find the one piece for the AC attachment so it fits on the powerhead and I am going to run tubing under the gravel so the attachment can be on the opposite end of the tank. Then I can just run the sponge filter with an air pump. The sponge filter and the attachment both have bacteria on them from the previous tank, so I just want everything running for now.
