I have a 60g tank and I have 3 HOB filters on it. I have 2 AC 110's and 1 Penguin BioWheel 350. The AC 110's flow rate is rated at 500 gallons per hour and biowhell at 350 gph.

I see my dats fins always moving really fast because the flow rate of those 3 filters is so strong for my tank. I was thinking about taking one of the filters out, but I'm worried about losing a lot of the good bacteria on the filters. I do a 30% water change once a week.

Would you take down one of those filters or keep all 3 up? Do dats do better with calm water or fast moving water like mine?

A decent flow rate is required, not necessarily too strong keep the filters as they are.

Thats a hell of a lot more than what ive got in my 60 with my dats,i think its over the top ive got one external rated for a 200l tank ,il have to check on flow and a 560lrated sponge filter and i have no problems and there is plenty of water movement, yours must be like rapids, whats the footprint.

It's a standard 60g tank -- 48" Long and 17" high.

Yeah it is a little like the rapids, that's why I was thinking about taking one of the filters down. I just don't want to mess up the water chemistry either.

I wouldn't take any filter out, unless I have to (like need a filter to set up another tank) The filters provide good water quality, and give the datnoids plenty exercise!

i have a thirty with a 50gal filter and it works and he is going with the flow haha he doesnt use his fins he loves to go where the water goes into the tank he loves fighting againxt it isa soooo cool it like amazing haha.

also you have tooooo much filtration in that little tank for so many filters so tank one out (the smallest one if your scaried to have bateria away)

Too true. I say you can never over filter!
I have 2 fx5. 's all full of bio media. This is the minimum filtration I would use in my circumstances.. And my tank is only 125g. With so many new owners of small baby tigers recently, although slow growers, can get
to 8 inch in the first 2 years. Your gonna need all the filtration you got ...

I never like my filters to work to hard. keep filters in. WQ is fundamental with dats. You'll undersand what we are saying in several months down the line;).
The quality of your tiger fish, will gradually diminish if your filtration can not sustain the load.

Overfiltering is not a word in my dictionary my baby dats r doing fine if I were u I'd worry more about temp

unless there being waged away by the current haha then raise the water lb or take 1 out I revomend an ac110 and then u can sell it to me=D
