Too much filtration/flow rate for dats?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya sell it to kevin =D

It all comes down to the size of the fish in the tank with all that current. If there so much current to the point where the dat is never able to rest.....Then i would think about taken one off. If the fish isnt able to rest at all and is always being pushed around by the current day and night that isnt good.

A decent flow rate is required, not necessarily too strong keep the filters as they are.

That's too many filteration. Get rid of one.

Hmm.... It's tough when you get conflicting advice from people. What do you think if I took a filter out but put the bio media from the old filter inside the tank?

I have small baby datnoids (about 1-2 inches). There is a lot of current so that even when they're resting on the ground, their fins are moving really fast just to stay still. Plus, almost all my dats are unstable (pale colored). So I think the current is too strong. I'm either going to take a filter out or try to adjust the force of the current somehow (maybe with a sponge tied to the outflow).

It's good to get a spread of answers, allows you to choose best option.

I think funwow is right. Everything is relative to each's circumstances. You decide if yor dats are being pushed excessively by the current.... (didn't think about that, just kept thinking longterm...)
.... If yes, then remove one filter. U can keep the bio media in a media net and just leave it in the main tank, as u have already mentioned. . That way it will remain partially seeded if you want to add the filter back
