too much for a 30gal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In all honesty I think you might want to find a bigger tank check craigslist.com or local paper, because what you are wanting to do and what you have are not going to work. Believe me I am not judging I did the same thing when I got started had 3 dwarf gouramis, 4 cardinal tetras, algea eater, 2 red eye tetras, 2 red velvet sword tails, and 2 lyretail mollies in 20 gal. Yes I know I was a fish hater. I learned my lesson and now running 5 tanks all healthy. Start small you can always upgrade later when time and cash permit.

bigger tank.

I HAVE TO ADD THAT TO MY SIG!!!

And I didn't mean 'cuz you have mad skillz.

Seriously, there will always be peer pressure here to forego giving your fish a long and happy life in favor of watching them annihilate each other. Be strong!!!

Dammit, Nick, I'm trying to think of something that you can put more than one of in a 30 gallon that would be acceptable to you. Exodon can be some mean SOBs and they're small, but you HAVE to have either a big school (10+) or just one (rather underwhelming). If only you had a 75!!!!!!!!!!

There's always someone trying to dump a 55 on craigslist. At least in my area. Good deals.
If you want a predator, you could do a small dwarf pike, and maybe put in some good sized hatchetfish to give it a "fuller" look.
Or, if you don't have your heart set on a predator, you could do almost anything under 3 inches that likes to school.

haha nick you know your
gonna end up doing it anyway

Yeah, we can all watch it on Youtube. Be sure to throw in your conscience and your wallet, because they're both gonna take a hit.

ROTFL :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

That old song from a commercial (with Michael Jordan, not Vick but we can pretend) just popped into my head.... "Like Mike, if I could be like Mike... I wanna be, wanna be like Mike...." If you do it, that could be your theme song!!!

I am a Craigslist Fanatic. I have stuff all over the house I found on there. The problem with those 55g tanks on CL is people are insane about there prices! 3 weeks ago I got a 120g tall complete set with stand and fish for $100. Last night I got a 125g long (just the tank) for $125, but I can't find a 55 for under $150 :WTF: Also, 85% of the time when you see a title of an add that reads "HUGE" aquarium, it's a 55.

Back on topic. Are you set on going with larger fish? Or prdatory fish? I can't think of any , but I can think of lots you can do with a 30. My daughter for example, has a 10g in her room. She has 4 fancy guppies, 3 red phantom tetra, a male betta, a female betta, and a blue ram.
Personally, I have been considering getting a 30g and doing a Glofish setup.

The problem with predatory fish is they are usually predatory because they are a bigger fish. Big fish obviously eat small fish and the small fish is what's going to go in a 30.
