hehe true, im ganna add some rocks in there right after i get some vingar to see if my rocks will lower or rise my PH

try going by a craft store and getting some cheap fake plants(or get some from the LFS) that will really help a lot.

so one of the reasons they dont seem that active maybe because they are stress from having no place to hide or be shaded?

they get stressed because suddenly they are exposed and have nowhere to hide, their instincts tell them that fish out in the open get eaten.

ahh i see that makes sense now, thats why they are trying to get low and hide themself on the gravel

yep, more cover means more places to hide if a predator appears which means less stresed fish who will become more bold because it has a place readily availible to hide if neccesary, you kinda have to find a balance between giving your fish enough cover to feel secure and having enough open space so that you can see the fish.
