Tank: 125g (6' L x 22" H x 18" W). Previously just had a little 150 gph powerhead to help with circulation (have 2 emporer 400s for filtration).

A couple weeks ago I ordered a Hydor Koralia #1 (400 gph), but what arrived today is a Koralia #4 (1200 gph).

Is this too much? It seems like alot to me...

Right now only have 8 silver dollars in the tank, but plan to get a lima shovelnose catfish next week, and cichla juveniles a few weeks after that.

Yeah but a maxijet 900 is only 230gph. If you divide your gph by tank size, thats 4.18. Divide my gph koralia by my tank size and that number is 9.6.

Now, I don't know if those numbers mean anything or not...

edit: Uploading a quick video to youtube to show the waterflow. I paused at each plant for a couple seconds just to show their movements...

you might wanna upgrade your filtration on your 125gal with you planned stock....on my 125gal im running 2 penguin 350 hob and a fx5...which is over kill but, much needed for my stock...you might wanna look into running a canister as well.

I've had this filtration setup for 4 1/2 years and have no complaints about it...plus with this 1200gph pump being added, there shouldn't be anymore dead spots/etc.

I had a large oddball tank setup before, and the only problems I had stemmed from poor upkeep on my part (skipping a water change...or doing too much (50% +) at once.

Man...its funny how 1 comment can infect your pysche, haha...

you might wanna upgrade your filtration
I at first dismissed this right away, thinking what I have has worked for years w/o issues...

5 minutes later I'm already starting to think..."well, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea..." or, "maybe when they grow out of juvenile stage..."

jeez, this video is still uploading to youtube...

Getting a "this video is not yet processed." message....not sure how long thats supposed to take.

I don't think that is too much water movement. I mean think, when fish are in the wild there are more water movement than that, but just try to keep a part of the tank with little to no water movement for the fish to chill.

I'm planning on getting one if not two of those to put in my 180 for more current.
