Man...its funny how 1 comment can infect your pysche, haha...

I at first dismissed this right away, thinking what I have has worked for years w/o issues...

5 minutes later I'm already starting to think..."well, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea..." or, "maybe when they grow out of juvenile stage..."

jeez, this video is still uploading to youtube...
had 2 400 HOB's for 10 years before i bought the 530 canister. you are good but its that much better...

but i think it's too much unless you can give them a break from it once in a while... eitherway it should make some strong swimming silver dollars.

I guess I could always unplug it once in awhile...how often? and for how long? I dont care about the silver dollars...I'm concerned about stressing my pbs when I get them.

for the 4 years you've had just the 2 hob what type of fish did you have in there...probably nothing that produces as much waste as a 10+" pbass...just trying to prepare for the future bro...I ran the same set up on my 55gal grow out (2 pen350 hob), but had to change to water atleast once every three days cause how much waste was produce between my pbs...but hey what do i know you've been using the same filtration for 4 years and i've been keeping pbass for damn near 2 years...GL

i had 3 full grown oscars, 14" jag and a 15" pacu. just don't be a lazy a** and it's fine.

if you want good movement i would just get the canister it does a great job on my 120.

here's some photos of my pbass...i just couldn't leave them in a tank with just 2 hob :(

all im sayin is, you can make some good money selling the #4 koralia brand new and you might have to spring in a little extra cash hit up ebay and scoop you a canister filter and have good water movement and good filtration all in one shot so your prepared for now and later. You can't go wrong!!! gl

i agree get a nice canister like an fx5... can usually find them brandnew and cheap on ebay.

I think if I added anymore filtration it would be another emperor filter. I'm familiar with them so maitanence would be no problem. An old neighbor and friend of mine had a couple canister filters on a 75g african cichlid tank he set up...and I wasn't impressed with them.

When my tank was in its prime back in '07, I had:
12" silver arowana (was the first of my favorite fish to die....might of been in '06. was around 3" when I got 'em from the lfs)
17" ornate bichir (died sometime in '07, came down with something after i did a massive water change (60% +), lesson learned :( had it since it was 3"
10" oscar (died in april '08 @ around 15"-16")
7-8" jaguar cichlid (traded her to the lfs last Saturday, was a solid 10")
and 3 6"-8" plecos

I bought the ornate bichir, oscar, and jaguar cichlid from liveaquaria.com in August '04, the oscar and jaguar were about 1 and 1/2", and the bichir about 3"). They had several other tank mates, but these guys lasted the longest.

got a 4 in my 4ft 125... great circulation and dead spots for fish to chill are either at the opposite end or right under it. the wild ocell like to chill in it time to time.

Have another in a 6ft african 110. without the lil direction cap it's a nice wide flow.

I have 5 kelberi growin in a 55 with a seio 620 and they love it. keeps 'em active.
