Too small?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most people here will say yes. I think a 5.5g is pretty close, but may be pushing it a bit. Most people will say "just get a 10 gallon".

Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear ! I too have a few 2.5g laying around I wish I could do something with.

lol yea that's the sort of response I'd expect.

Don't be sorry, I'm not one of the kids who asks a question then *****es if the answer isn't the one I want.

Anyone got any other opinions?

i say no....i kept 6 in a ten with no prob, but with my experience, they pair up, so you might just want to figure out the pair and keep the pair in the 3.5...i see no prob with that.

i say no....

To clarify, he asked if a 3g is too small, i said "most people would say yes", meaning, "Yes, it's too small".

Easy to misread.

So I'll say it more clearly.

3g is too small :nilly:

Yea I'm think no more than 1 male and 1-2 females,

They're fairly clean as far as cichlids go aren't they?

Kinda thinking the foot print will be enough as long as I don't need more than 2 females, so all I'd be worrying about would be the bio load/behavior with so few.

Has anyone kept just a couple and have they been happy?

I know what you meant =)

I could tell you knew what I meant, that's for people who may join the thread late, I can already see it starting :FIREdevil

I guess if you really wanted you could give it a try, but It seem's just a tad small to me, id say 5.5g, sure thing. I know a lot would say 10g min, im sure a few would say 2.5g is fine so you should be good.

Really they only claim about 10" I've heard. So if you think you could give them to space, maybe.

The thing is the reproduce quickly and like all Tangs they need very clean water. I just don't think a tank this size can provide what they need. They are difficult to sex so how could you be sure you got only 1 male?
I would say no but it seems you're going to do it anyway.
