So today was the day. I completed the deal for my old 180 gallon tank that wasn't drilled along with the equipment, and within minutes I was on the phone ordering my new tank...

Aqueon 220 gallon with dual cornerflows!!!!

I didnt want to buy a new canopy and stand as my old one was perfectly good, so I went for the maximum size while re using my old stand. So I gained 40 gallons. But the big thing is that the new tank has corner overflows. I also ordered:

Super Reef Octopus 3000 8"
Mag Drive 1200
Spectrapure RO/DI (90 Gallons per day)

Next order:
ATI Sunpower 8 x 80 watt T5 60"
4 koralia 1500's

I can't wait till this stuff gets here! The sump will simply consist of a 40 gallon long tank with the skimmer at one end and return pump at the other end. Nothing more.

Sent from my SGH-I317M using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

When you say 1200 gph mag drive are we talking' lil' dinky pond masters or larger external drives like iwaki 's or lil giants? IMO the pond masters won't last very long

I am also on the fence about adding the hydor smartwave controller for the koralia PH's. Anybody help on this topic? I have read that the randomized wave patterns (or at least back and forth) can help with SPS'.

Is there another controller to perhaps view?

hated it.. i just sold mine after using it for a month..
unless you just keep 2 PH's on it then its ok and have 2 that are always on..
i hated it with just 2 going on and off.

The Hydor Smart Wave can handle 100 watts/socket, the Hydor Koralia 1400 Power Heads draw 6 watts each, that equals 16 powerheads PER socket for a total of 32 if you had a tank that required that many. It can handle four with plenty of wattage to spare. It is meant to take care of tiny tanks, all the way up to the largest tanks.
