I had a procedure done a year ago, they gave me a pill called lorazapan I believe. You will need a driver to get you home but it works great. I'll describe it like this, you are so relaxed that they could cut of a toe with a butter knife and you wouldn't mind. Ask the dentist about it.

my wife would have to take a day off to be with the kids in my case

plus, if you get teeth pulled or oral surgery, the pain comes back after the med wears off
