Jaws was based on such an attack in a river. Bull shark attacks do happen in freshwater world wide.

My list for top freshwater predators has to do with top predators. Wolf fish and ps are great, but they do get eaten in their habitats. With upper level preds, size matters.

1. Bull shark
2. Mekong cat
3. gator gar
 
A shark hunter from australia whom I saw on a discovery channel said that the tourist industry was actually covering up shark attacks and a very many shark attack victims never make it back to tell about it. I wish I had written down the dudes website

I would imagine if a person fights back the shark lets go and gets lost, but what if that first bite is enough to incapacitate the victim does the shark let go or does it eat the now non resisting victim??

Cant say that I would ever want to find out
 
if based on managing to eat something and having the same mass.

gulper cat, will eat things.. ..well you have all seen the "3" gulper ate my dog kind of threads".

giant snakehead. fierce as hell and the teeth to back it up, will not hesitate one bit to shop things up if to big to swallow..

probably asian rtc, mixture of both.



if you were thinking (back in 2007) toughest I'd go with the giant snakehead any day.

they would have to the top predators of the freshwater fish world no doubt but in the case of the aquarium freshwater world the best three combo i like is gator gar, dat, and aro's
