Top Fin (petsmart) 120g tank?

Saw a 120g (5ft) tank in Petsmart I was thinking of getting. About the same price as the same-sized Perfecto tank in the lfs 've been eye-balling. Anyone know if Marineland/Perfecto makes the Petsmart "Top Fin" brand? Petsmart didn't know. The UGF and, glass canopy & lights that came with it said Perfecto on the box so I'm guessing Petsmart renames the Marineland tanks?

Anyone know for sure or does anyone have a Top Fin tank?

I believe marineland makes the topfin line, as the silicone work and trim is basically identical..also, the silicone is black, which Aqueon (Allglass) tanks do not have. only the bowfront Aqueon tanks have black silicone...

I thought Top Fin tanks were Aqueon/AllGlass. If they're not, the frames they use are a dead ringer for Aqueon's. At least on my 125 and their 125.

If you have Perfecto accessories though, then I guess its not Aqueon.

I did a quick web search and everyone seems to think that Perfecto/marineland does indeed make them, including the folks at wetwebmedia.

but that doesn't really mean anything..

if Aqueon does make them, the quality is a step down from their Aqueon branded tanks IMO.

how many cross braces does your 125 have?

I have a TopFin 20 long. It's a quality-built tank, but the silicon work is not the cleanest.

I don't even know anymore, marineland gets everything they make renamed. I once saw a Marineland 30 gallon tank labeled as an Eclypse at one store, and Oceanic at another. And their filters too.

It's a good tank ether way, i got a lot of tanks from petsmart and have never busted one.

See if it has a "Built by: *insert name here*" sticker on it. There usually under the rim only visible through the inside, if it has that it's probably Marineland.

I bought that same tank from PetsMart and it had Marineland cardboard all over it when we picked it up, so they do make them. I loved the size of that tank although mine did happen to spring a leak 3 wks later and I traded up to a 150 g because they were out of the 120 g show tanks.

good catch - Aqueon doesn't make a 5 foot tank..

Thanks eveyone. Seems like a good deal. I can get the Topfin 120 that comes with the glass canopy, 2 lights (which I really don't need, have t-5's on the my wooden canopy), and an UGF for the same price as a 120g Perfecto tank only (no glass tops, filter or lights) in another lfs. Petsmart said the tank comes with a lifetime warranty too!
