anyone try the largest models of these brand air pumps?
they are faily cheap in the 20 dollar range for the largest sizes up to 200 gallon tanks.
If either are good which is better? i dont mind noise becuase it will be behind wall an wont hear it.. i am looking just for strong an long lasting...
so petsmart top fin.. petco.. or neither?

my tetra lasted about 4 year then took a (****) and i had a aquaculture pump it works ok it is from 1994 so its old it makes some noise but it does work i have not bought and of the pumps listed above but hope this helps a little .

I've got a couple of old cheapie ones that I don't even remember where I bought them but they're at least ten years old and still going.

i had a topfin take a **** on me in one tank and another one got really loud. im using a tetra whisper now and its not bad..... either way do spend alot they only blow air

the top fin ones are okay, its a crapshoot though you may get one last a long time another may die in a year or two so i mean either way ur runnin a risk with the cheapiies

In the past Top Fin products carried a satisfaction guaranty, that you could return it if not satisfied. If this still applies I would consider the Top Fin for this reason. But I notice many of the products do not have that anymore.

I have several of the large Topfin and a Petco. The Topfin are quite as long as all outlets are hooked up. The Petco is very loud.

I never use topfin before but if they have them in both petco and petsmart, go to petsmart, petsmart usually cheaper than petco! if I can find Boss, I would like it better! but not sure how much it go for in the U.S since other air pumps are quite expensive! I remember when I was in Vietnam, I bought my Boss 9500(I think it's a 9500 or maybe 9600, not really remember the number) for only about $4 and it's strong enough to make a real strong current in my 600G!
