those fish look great, sorry for the late reply, I dont seem to be getting emails when responses are posted.

I have since purchased a flagtail prochildus. A nice 9" beast of a fish.

cool! how much was the flatail? in my area, a big one like that will sell for hundreds of dollars (I have seen an 18 inch one - yes, they can get that big despite what the books say) that was $400 canadian.

pretty rare to get them that size though, as far as I know

Yeah I got it from a friend on another forum. cost me £105 (UK) for the flagtail and a 9" Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri inc Delivery which was saturday delivery too. So pretty much a bargin, if the fish gets to around the size you say I may well sell it on later on, as the tank its in is 4x2x2'
