TOP TEN MOST AGGRESSIVE FISH, THAT ISNT A CICHLID?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bichirs aren't too bad (big diff from food aggresion and territorial/plain aggression). but i have hear some nasty things about the following truely aggresive fish:
Snakeheads
Black Pirahanas
Wolffish
Crystal Eye Catfish (hemibragus wyckii i believe)<-- prob the meanest i know
jardini arawana
Bucktooth (exodon) tetras
betta splendens can be very aggresive towards conspecifics

thats all i can think of.

My piranhas after not feeding them for a week because I'm away... they can easily eat a mouse! Of course I did not do that... but I am pretty sure :P

There's videos all over youtube of piranhas eating mice..........

The meanest I have ever owned was the fahaka puffer but there are some saltwater eels you could put in that discussion. I worked with one at my job that grabbed a huge stars and stripes puffer because it got too close to its cave. It wasnt me who put them in there together haha.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the alligator gar yet. I was warned by the guru's of the Gar forum that I was not going to find my alligator gars to be in the same universe in the way of peaceful as my longnose gar is. They were right and I had to remove a 14" longnose, and a 11" clown knife from being harassed by two 6" (or less) alligator gars and a 9" red bay snook.

I thought that it was mainly the 9" Snook that was killing my 11" clown knife, because that is what I normally saw fighting with the knife, but I think not now. The knife is even more torn up since moving it back in with the LNG and Oscar that it grew out with.

My Tiger Oscar is well over a foot now and is also starting to get on my LNG's nerves and is coming up with massive "slice" marks just like the knife.

No Kidding. I do not think twice or hesitate to place my hand into my RBP tank to arange decor etc... The three RBP's I have raised since dime size and are now rangeing from 5 to 6.5 inches. They WILL NOT bite me! I am very cautious of sticking my hand in the baby alligator gar tank though. I still do, but I am well aware of what these two are doing and ready to withdraw fast WHEN they come to get some!

I dont see a lot of these fish mean. I could very easily put my hand in a snake head tank, RBP, and i could kiss an aligator gar. My eel could do the most damage but most aggressive fish would have to be triggers. Watch some videos on youtube of Titan triggers attacking divers. They dont stop ripping skin off until the diver is almost 500yards away from their territory. You can't even house sharks with triggers, they would eat a shark 3x their size, or just kill it. They are smart hunters and killers, removing fins and eyes. Lip locking is not an option, only survival.
