As far as I know, there's really no other option for a truely top-dwelling fish that would be large enough to coexist with the rays and pbass. Both gars and pike characins will occupy all levels of the tank.
 
hmmmm i want blue platnum arowanas, but my girlfriend who i live with thinks they are the creepiest fish out there. since it is going to be a wall divider from my man cave in the basement to her laundry room, i guess she does have some input :(

That B. maculata is pretty large.
