All ,

Need your guidance on this.
In my big tank the Jaguar which is around 13” was the king for sometime like an year or so.
Then I moved a male Dovii in the tank .
Day 1 : Dovii explored and guess checked the competition.
Day 2 : Saw some skirmishes between the Jaguar and the Dovii , particularly when the Dovii swam to the Jaguars territory.
Day 3 : Jaguar was able to drive the Dovii away.

Missed couple of days as I feed alternative days and I assumed the Jaguar was not interested to eat , when I went to feed .

Day 6 : The emperor had been dethroned, Dovii had hurt the Jaguar bad.
The Jaguar has torn fins , can see some injuries.
For now I have pulled him out , the questions that I need assistance are as follows

1) What medications do I need to add
2) Do I need to do daily water changes or even more frequently
3) Do I need to regulate the temperature?
Current temperature around the area I live is around 25 - 27 degrees centigrade.

Looking forward for your inputs

When any of my fish got badly torn fins I just add half the recommended amount of salt to treat ich. I never messed with the temp. Just up the water changes and keep an eye out for fungus. But a little salt is all I’d add.

Agreed, mere torn fins and superficial wounds shouldn't require much treatment, the most important thing is to keep the water pristine as the fish heals....and those two cannot be kept together unless you get them a massive tank or one of them will eventually be killed.

Adult doviis really don't get along with tankmates in typical tanks.

Jag should live, just do daily water changes.

Is the jag in a separate tank now to heal, or in the main tank still?

I agree with others' input that clean water and a little salt is all that is needed to heal physical injuries. If you have catapa leaves or driftwood in the hospital tank, they have antibacterial properties that can help fight off infections. If you have melafix, adding the recommended dose of melafix can't hurt. Though it is not necessary if no infection.

I also agree that the jag and dovii won't work out together. Dovii are really not good community fish tbh. my recommendation would be to sell the dovii and keep the jaguar in the tank, Jags are much easier to deal with. Dovii's get worse as they get large.

I have pulled him out and he is in a treatment tank.
Keeping him in clean waters as suggested in previous posts .
Doing regular water changes to ensure good healing.
