Torn fins and injuries after a fight

If he's in a suitably sized tank I wouldn't do daily water changes. Another way to put it is I wouldn't do extra frequent water changes unless he's now in an extra small tank-- I might do larger water changes, but not more frequent. I wouldn't want to disturb him any more than necessary. You want his stress levels to go down-- which is to say that biochemically speaking you want stress chemicals to return to non-stress levels, as these are taxing on a fish's energy budget, using energy he needs to heal. (there's a lot of literature on the biochemical stress response in fish, example here) For similar reasons I'd also feed him lightly at first.

As I recently posted in another thread, everyone has their own protocol for dealing with scuffs and damaged fins, I find light dosing of melafix to normally be effective, something like 1/4-1/3 what the bottle recommends. Melafix can cause temporary elevated breathing and the lower dose minimizes this, yet it's still effective for fins, scuffs, and wound healing ime.. Melafix can also produce some temporary foaming at the surface if you have good surface current. All harmless ime.

Like I say, everyone has their own protocol. Clean and stable water, little salt (I do a low dose here also) and/or a little melafix works for me.

How is the dovii with all the others id be a little bit cautious of it growing and taking everything else out.
For now he seems to be ok , as I am watching him closely.
The Jaguar was the only one challenging him , the others just move out of his way .
I have not yet seen any aggression from him to others.
But , that said , I am ready to move him to a tank of his own .
