Just found out today that I have a torn PCL - a jerk in his truck nearly hit me while riding on my moped.

Has anyone else had one? Did you go the surgery route, or physical therapy route? Apparently surgery is not often used for this injury.

Any problems with either route, in the long run? Thanks

Actually, I'm sticking to the FL plan... I'm going to go to FL, and then come back and either do the PT, or have surgery. I want to have this FL experience before being "in house" for months.

just live it out...

i tore somethin and they called it Winging of the scapula...i just dealt with it...it healed but it'll never be the same....i tried goin back to working out and it pops WAYYY out on the bench.

Posterior Cruciate Ligament? Strange that you've been told that surgery isn't the best route. Have you been MRI'd? Do they know the extent of your damage? I've had a wrecked ACL (ANTERIOR Cruciate Ligament) for half my life (Yup - got it bmxing...) and it's been a royal pain in the ass. Been wearing a knee brace on and off for nearly 18 years (I'm wearing one in my avatar - right knee..). About 10 years ago I got keyhole surgery to tidy up the tear and clean out and debris from the knee joint and it worked like a dream. But eventually it deteriorated again. I've been back to see the specialists and now I either have to live with the pain and the instability or get reconstructive surgery. 2 titanium screws, a piece of my Hamstring and up to 6 months rehab....but it's gonna be worth it. Very high success rate now with this type of surgery.
My advice is get as many opinions as you can and don't ignore it. The knee is one of the most crippling joints when it goes wrong, so don't mess around with it. If I get more info, I'll post it.

yes - found out the results of the MRI today - have an appt for Tues to discuss it further.
Should I be exercising / walking around, etc?

Rest it as much as you can until you know how bad the damage is - don't confine yourself to bed, but be careful what you do until you get a professional opinion. A support bandage would not be a bad idea either...
The only exercise I would recommend is gentle swimming.
The last thing you want to do is aggravate the injury... Believe me - screw your knee up and you'll be paying for it for a long time!
Take care and take it easy.

I tore two ligaments in my knee when I was in 7th grade not even knowing.......I played six soccer seasons in two years without even knowing......but everytime I got hit I would be out for usually at least a week.....I finally went to get it looked at by my doctor and he told me I tore two ligaments and they were really damaged.......Dunno the details of it cuz it was a long time ago and I don't really remember alot........I'd do whatever your doctor tells you to and just hope to make a full recovery.........

Anyway get better Jude hope you feel better......

Thanks guys!
