My daughter loves her tank.. i went with a low light planted setup and added some tetras, along with a few oddballs ( reticulated hillstream loach, starry night eels) i wait for them to go on sale. I hate to admit i buy cheap easy to replace fish incase something happens. i also use it to grow out some of my more docile larger fish.
for the 75 why not an Oscar? If you like them I would get one.
Im not a cichlidaholic. so Ill recommend some non cichlid fish. wolf fish, gulper catfish, african brown knife, black ghost knife, spiney eels, SA puffers. Im sure there are alot more. Some of these fish are species only, or solitary and a few can be communitied with the right fish. I also stuck with fish ive found under 100$ so not cheap, but not in the "rare" bracket.
