They are gorgeous birds and it is in my top five of birds I want to get. They are really messy from what I have heard since they do eat alot of fruit they have liquid ferces essentially. And they are cb a but they do cost a fortune if you want a hand raised baby but I have heard they are very much worth the expense and can be awesome birds to have.

They are gorgeous birds.. dont know about making a good pet though..

with the right kind of money, almost anything could become a pet.
oh the possibilities.... manetees are pretty sweet lol

I was looking into getting a toucan. Still might. They apparently get very tame, and make amazing pets.

I know nothing about them but someone told me that since they are big grape eaters . You have to becareful with their long razor beak and your eye balls lol.

Maybe they were just pulling my leg .

Neighbor has a pair in his aviary that he breeds from time to time. He also breeds Hyacinth Macaws, which I think are worth more than the tucans. A baby hyacinth starts at $10k.

The toucans are nice but I wouldn't get a exotic bird, if it couldn't talk to me.

You are prolbably having your leg pulled if I were guessing. But you need to be careful with all larger birds around you eyes because they can all cause damage.

And I think it is the tocos or swainsons but can't remember for sure but for a hand raised baby it was up there with the hyacinths.

A great breeder in the US is emerald forest birds they have a huge selection.

Yeah, toucans have a pretty much harmless bite for such a large bird. It would still hurt your eye though.
Think of getting bitten by a duck.
