Tough decision... should I sell this tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just get rid of it. I know you might not want to and there's obviously some sentimental value attached to it, but you've got your whole life to keep aquariums. When you've graduated and settled and bought a house, you can build a 1000 gallon plus in the basement. ;)

That would be great, except the stock in my two tanks are incompatible and my landlord has a size restriction on tanks. He said no tanks over 55g, and only agreed to the 75g because it's a low-level riverine type setup.

Stock can easily be altered and aren't you going to be moving? But as I stated before, you have to do what makes you happy. What has more value to you, the tank or the stock of either the 75g or the 40g.

Or why not keep the 150 with the amount of water and the stock from the 75g, along with the 40g?

I understand where you're coming from, but my stock literally consists of one cichlid in one tank, and a turtle in the other. There's no way I can part with either. :) Also, the 75g is an open top acrylic tank with a lowered front wall, and once planted it will have plants growing out the top. I've wanted this type of setup for about 10 years, and I'm finally getting to do it... unfortunately I can't convert that setup to the 150g which is completely enclosed.

I think I've decided to keep the tank and stand, maybe sell the accessories here on MFK, and just deal with storing it for the time being until I can make a really confident decision to let it go.

If I was you I would store it forget about it and set it up later. For me once I pay for something I forget about it......its done. It will make for a great tank down the road.I am not in your shoes but it never seems like the measures people take will actually help them more then a few short lived bucks......never really helps them long term. Good luck and I'm sure whatever you do will work for you.

I'm going to keep the tank, stand, and canopy for the time being, but I have decided to part with all of the accessories I got. I didn't realize how much extra stuff I had until I went through my fish room this afternoon! Everything is currently up for sale on the Marketplace.
