Tough loss, 2 dead monster armatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What's your PH Stan? Straight tap? Any RO?

I've never got one past 14. The one that got that big was on live significantly longer then all that I lost before a foot.

They're being kept to good size across seas.

I really think it's either PH or diet (live only) Those are the 2 factors that seperate thier monsters and ours that don't seem to make it out of that 1-2' sizes.

Really sorry for your losses man.... :(

I think I am done with armatus for now, if I do get back in, I am only going to get one and be done with it.

Stan
If you do get back in, go masive or go home! :D

Sorry for you loss Stan. At least now you can say you've had some cool fish that don't always fare well in captivity and you did everything you could to make sure they had a long healthy life the two years you've had them.

I am using tap with dechlor (7.0 PH). I do dump all of RO waste water on to the tank as well on top of daily drip. We used RO water for drinking water so the RO unit constantly making RO water and dump the waste to the armatus tank.

They've been off live for a long time, I feed them smelt, shrimp and tilapia. I used a whole smelt, I don't understand how a whole smelt is different than live food (other than being dead), it still have all of it nutrients and minerals from a whole fish.

Maybe it's their water LOL...I do know water overseas aren't usually filtered by chemical by the municipal entity. When I was growing up, my dad would just add water to his ginarmous tank straight from the tap and my mom alwasy boil our water to drink :)

Maybe once I built an addition in the backyard John...I am losing my fish room, we're trying for another kid in a year or so. I am going to build a shed in the backyard (we have 1/2 acre) and I'll turn that into my fish room :)
