Even from my limited knowledge of elk, I understand he can consider himself very lucky that the outcome was only "sent tumbling".

And what would possess anyone to go anywhere near a wild bear cub, without thinking for one minute that mum is going to be very close by.....and extremely irate.

I'm having flashbacks here to the bear scene in "The Revenant". Lol.
