Traded up, new trio of BD pups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Beautiful trio Mike,Tim has done you proud there!..number 3 is my favourite also, looks like will turn out like it's mother.

Totally agree. This thread wasn't started to show off that I thought I'd done someone over without trying.
I spoke to the BD breeder for sometime before we settled on a deal. We both know how thin on the ground Hystrix of any size are in the UK, same in the U.S. I imagine, let alone mature specimens. We both agreed that it's not about the monetary value of the fish, because obviously BD command a much higher price.
We both had something the other desired.
Everyone's a winner.

I have to admit, the last pup is my favourite also at the moment.
Nice! I also agree with you.. as I think the last pup/last pic will be the nicest one of the batch. It will have the biggest spots of the 3 but will end up with a more classic look.. not much Ti if any when mature. :)

Bit of a drama last night. We had been away over night, I came home to find one pup had breached the divider in the dark, I assume. There are little gaps but I didn't think they would be an issue.

No harm done to the pup thankfully by the big female.

So I catch the pup and put it back, amongst the comosion one of larger clown loaches which were flying about goes head first through one of the 11/2" holes i drilled for flow in the divider, it got wedged in and couldn't go forwards or backwards. FFS!!!

I got a Stanley knife and winkled the loach out, it lost A LOT of its slimecoat and had some damage but today is feeding so can't be too bad.

On that note I decided to pull the divider, on the merit of the big female not hurting the pup even though she had not fed in over 24 hours and to stop the loaches killing themselves.

Pups have been fine today, they have a low slung bogwood they often hide under and feed fine.
