Hi all. Simple question. How much can I expect when trading in fish for store credit or cash. Someone told me 20 percent of what you bought it for or its retail price. Is that accurate?

Sounds about right, stores don't typically have loads of wiggle room. Also depends on the type of fish, they may not take in anything they would struggle to resell.

Most places won't buy single fish you need to rehome. They will accept it as a donation. Usually they will only buy batches of fry, in my experience. For me it was a flat rate for the batch not a per fish deal. This was when I sold Caspers fry to The Wet Spot.

If you want to get close to what they are worth it would be better to try to sell in the market here or places like Craigslist.

Really depends on size, quality, color, rarity, individual store, etc.
Brought in 12 juvenile kribs once and got $25. Essentially I broke even from their parents.
I’m sure I can get 25 to 50 for my 8 inch leporinus, which is 2.5 to 5 times more than I got him for. I would get more but he is missing an eye.
A store will always turn around and sell it for more than you did though, cause profit.
If you grow something out from a cheap juvie, you can expect a large profit. If you sell it right after buying you won’t make as much, may even lose money.
Not sure if that answers your question?

yes! I was thinking of selling my 9 compricesps

On here would probably be better for making money. Lfs will definitely give you money, amount will really just depend on the store. You should make enough to get something nice.

would you get more store credit theoretically? Do you think enough for a flowerhorn?

Sell fish too often on mFK (in huge quantities), and you will be asked to pay a vendor fee.
