Lfs will definitely give you money, amount will really just depend on the store. You should make enough to get something nice.

Typically in-store credits have more attractive terms rather than getting cash. But they aren't worth it. As an example, you can trade in fish for $20 in store credit to spend or $10 for cash, which you will get instantly. I know the first option is more attractive, but don't forget that you can only spend that money in that store, and I don't think you will need them. While you can invest cash somewhere else. Never fails, right? You have a grow-out tank full of XYZ fry, and high hopes to trade them in...you have a target size in mind for them...and a week before you are ready to collect them and bring them in, the LFS gets a tankful from somebody else.
