Balzani (some being from Southern Brazil and some Uruguay cooler parts of S America) do not need quite the cool down that some other Gymnogeophagus need, but...they also (as stated above) won't have a long and healthy life if kept at tropical temps. The first time I had them, I tried keeping them in tropical temps, where they tended to be prone to fungus and bacterial disease.
The next group (Uruguayan) kept at room temp (without a heater, but no drastic cool down) at water temps around the high 60s to low 70s, they did very well.
So yes in another tank, without the higher temps that Geophagus, Uaru and other tropicals need they should do well.
