training arrowana to take pellets

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when i used to keep aros (blacks, jardinis, silvers), i would train them to eat hikari food sticks. when they were little i would break them into 2-3 sections. keep it up, and they will take it. they will eventually get hungry enough and accept it. if it is a while (1 wk), throw in a couple feeders, then you can start the process again. don't give up.

I had My Austrailian since it was only 5 inches and never before accepted pellets as food, and now it is around 20 inches... and just recently started to eat pellets for some reason!!! :woot: :headbang2 I did not have to starve her/him.
Cool huh!

my first aro didn't take pellets for anything so i did give her crickets. eventually during feeding time and when she didn't get cricket it didn't take long(couple of days after she's competing with eating pellets. i just got two S.Aro last july and LFS said they been eating feeders and that's it, but when it came home with me, it ate pellets the first day without problems. i've tried to feed it varieties of stuff, and it has not turn down anything yet.
let us know how they do when you get 'em.

Mine eat's pellet's every day with other food's!! He's been eating pellet's from day one and he was 2.5'' now he is 14'' :)
