I'm going to Columbus Ohio Saturday and I'm going to stop at Aquarium Adventures and it will be the first time I've been to a big fish store. Only places I've been is chain stores like petsupplies jacks etc. Anyways its an 1 1/2 hours from my house. Were going down there to visit the wifes sister and I plan on stopping there on the way home. I plan on getting two BN plecos but may end up getting something else also. Anyways I've never traveled that far with fish before. Whats the best way to do it. Should I just do like I usually do and leave them in the bags they comes in and just keep them warm or will I need to do something else.

Thanks

If it's a big store, they'll likely have an oxygen tank to fill bags for extended journeys. Even without though, a BN pleco would live in a bag for at least 6 hours, potentially more.

Couple tips, bring a cooler to keep the fish warm and to keep them dark. The lack of light prevents stress, slowing their metabolism which further extends the time they can be in the bag.

I am up in Columbus alot for Car club stuff, where is this store located? Got the address info as I am too lazy to use Google? hahaha.

Ok thanks guys I'll try those tips and find out about the oxygen tank. Cdubel01 the address is 3632 West Dublin Granville Road Columbus, OH 43235 - (614) 792-0884
Open Mon-Sat 10am-9pm; Sun 11am-6pm. Heres a link to there site guess the store is 12000 square feet.

They sell some stuff here that works sort of anti-stress. I always use it when I transport a fish for longer then an hour. They don't even have "stress colours" when I introduce them in my tank. It's called Easy-life filtermedium, but I doubt they have it over there.

Even if they don't have an oxygen tank, plecos will still be fine. I've had plecos out of the water in ornaments accidentally longer than that lol

Thanks man, what about a bichir they have some there I can't find here would one of those be ok also?

Ask the store if they have Bag Buddies. They chemically add oxygen, slightly tranquilize the fish, and support slime coat. I have my own that I take with me when I am going to have a long transport. I also have some Styrofoam insulated fish shipping boxes that come in handy for long trips.

Actually I just keep um in the bag no matter what. Nothing special. I get my jardni arowana up in cali and bring it all the way to az. It is a 8 hour drive and all we do is make the bag sturdy so it will not shake as much.
