Bichirs can breathe from the atmospheric air above the water, I thought..
 
You could a bichir in a wet sack and it would likely be fine for an hour lol. I've never used a abg buddy in my life, but I guess it couldn't hurt. Your biggest issue with really long transit and/or big fish is the chemistry changes. Ph goes way down and ammonia goes way up...now the low ph stops it being toxic, but once you start acclimating the fish the rise in ph may make the water toxic...

So what would you suggest I do when I get home? Should I let them float in the bag for 20 mins like I usually do or just net them out and put them right in?
