I was just wondering...when people move fish in bags or buckets, can't it kill the fish because it's not cycled?

There is no filtration in a shipping container anyway. Fort 24-48 hrs, it's fine. Oxygen is a more important issue than filtration. Don't feed fish before they get shipped.

The water has bb in it. Thats the same as saying the glass holds the bb. I have a whisper I think 20 and I have it on my fish transporter.I take it off one of my 20's when I go get a new "bigger" fish. I have one of those lighter to socket plugin things.

They are typically not in the containers/bags long enough for it to be an issue. Adding enough oxygen and fasting the fish for 48 hours before shipping/transporting helps keep ammonia production to a minimum.

Use water from the tank it/they were in.

That is actually a bad idea. It is best to use water that has had no fish it in. IE with the least amount of nitrates/ammonia. Since by taking tank water all you are doing is starting with cruddier water. (IE tank water isn't able to filter itself.)

Make sure you starve your fish for a few days first so they do not pop in the the water and cause ammonia burn and fins to detteriote and it will also cause the ph to drop.

If you just use water from the tank you shouldnt have any problems.

It's best to use water that has never had fish / fish waste in it.

Ammonia is what kills fish in bags. Water from the tank has more organics in it than water from the tap.

I use aged tap for shipping and fish for auctions. And a little piece of Polyfilter. I also fast the fish for 3 days or so prior.

It's less critical if the fish are only going to be in the bag for a little (less than an hour or two).
