Has anyone ever transported their fish for a few days? If so, any pointers? I will be transporting some African Cichlids (9) ranging in size from 4"-9" and a bunch of 1.5" dragon blood peacocks in a cooler back home, but on the way home I have to make a stop at my in laws for 2 days ( sis n law just had a baby girl). I've transported before fish before but it's only 3 hours top. I'm worry that something might go wrong. I'm planning to add an air pump and a heater. Should I change the water every day in the cooler? The Africans are: pair of venustus (9" male), trio of red empress (7" male) quad of dragon blood peacocks (5" male).

My brother moved from Florida to nj. He had a monster Rubbermaid on the back seat of his car An ac/dc power converter hooked up and had a heater and a submersible filter going I. Not sure what he did with the heater. I can't remember but I'm sure he'll chime in. I know he had it in something to prevent damage. No casualties and some of the fish were a good size.

I have transported fish in Rubbermaid totes and have kept them in there for a week while I resealed the tank . I put a sponge filter in and changed a little bit of water with treated water daily .

Thanks everyone got home this afternoon and all fish is doing well with the exception of being very hungry.
