So my little brothers girlfriend decided to get a tank today but she just bought a tank and a couple platys and threw them in there because she knows nothing about cycling the tank. Luckily she is just a 14 year old who has never kept fish and knows nothing of them so I cut her some slack. But I am going to give her some filter media out of my tank to help it cycle quick and hopefully not harm the platys. What is the best way to transport it? Will a tupperware container filled with water be sufficient? Its only like a ten minute drive I just don't want the bacteria to all die off on the way there because that would be kind of counter productive

I would think 10mins would be fine, if you have a bubble maker it would help.

Make sure you use a good amount of water from your tank to not shock the bb while transporting.
While setting up make sure the water is stable and de-chlorinated before adding the media.
A bit of aquarium salt/kosher salt (w/ no anti-caking agents) will help with the cycling process as it makes nitrites less lethal.

Don't worry about the bacteria dying, they can live for hours and hours as long as the media is moist. With the 10 minute drive, an airstone isn't necessary at all. I'd just worry about temp variation, so make sure the tank the media goes in is close to the tank temp the media came from.
